A Thoroughbred is a breed of horses that is popular because of its ability to race as a result of their combination of agility, speed, and spirit. The Belmont Stakes, sometimes referred to as The Test of the Champion, is the 3rd and final race of the Triple Crown. The two other legs are the Kentucky Derby (5-weeks prior) and the Preakness Stakes (3-weeks prior). The Belmont horse race is always held on a Saturday between June 5th-11th.
